Funeral Mass for Deacon Stephen A. Venturini, 82, who died Tuesday, May 5, will be celebrated Tuesday, May 12 at Columbus Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Pataskala.

He was ordained a deacon on Jan. 23, 1982 by Bishop Edward Herrmann at Columbus St. Joseph Cathedral and had served Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in the 44 years since then as a deacon.

He also was a pastoral assistant there after retiring from a long career in drafting and engineering at Bell Laboratories in Columbus and its successor, AT&T Corp.

He was born to Stephen and Rose (Miceli) Venturini in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on May 4, 1944 and was a 1962 graduate of Columbus Bishop Hartley High School. He was a retired supervisor for AT&T Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two unborn grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Morris); daughters, Maria (Matthew) Garcia and Gina (Jason) Simcox; a brother, Thomas; a sister, Jeanne (Howard) Lorenz; 10 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
