Nineteen degrees and 16 certificates were awarded at the 180th annual commencement ceremony at Saint Vincent College and Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, held Friday, May 8 in the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica.
The graduates included Brother Roman Pallone, O.S.B. (Order of Saint Benedict) from Columbus. He earned a master of arts in Catholic philosophical studies, graduating summa cum laude from Saint Vincent College and Seminary.
He received a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Cornell University in 1991 and a master of business administration from Ohio State University in 1999. He has been a monk of the Archabbey since 2021.

Eleven men from the dioceses of Charleston, South Carolina; Ogdensburg, New York and Pittsburgh as well as Saint Vincent Archabbey earned a master of divinity degree.
Three seminarians, two from the Archdiocese of Hanoi, Vietnam, and Brother Pallone, earned a master of arts in Catholic philosophical studies.
Two students earned a master of arts in ministry. Another two earned a master of arts in systematic theology.
Certificates were awarded in the fields of catechetics, catholic theology and spiritual direction. Letters of Completion were awarded in catechetics and spiritual direction.

Cardinal Seán Patrick O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap. (Order of Friars Minor Capuchin), offered a commencement address. Cardinal O’Malley is metropolitan archbishop emeritus of Boston and retired president of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors.
Saint Vincent Seminary is a Roman Catholic seminary grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the living tradition of the Church in accord with the Magisterium. It is shaped by the Benedictine heritage of liturgical prayer, study, hospitality and community. The seminary prepares candidates for the priesthood and formation of permanent diaconate candidates and lay ministry students.
