Cold temperatures and snow postponed Catholic Schools Week (CSW) activities this winter, but the inclement weather did not stop Dennison Immaculate Conception School from celebrating.
Students and staff members at the school joined together to emphasize this year’s CSW theme, HOPE: humility, outreach, prayer and evangelization.
Students participated in pay-to dress-down days with proceeds benefitting a local food pantry and dog pound.

Classes wrote cards to local nursing homes and parish shut-ins. They also gave cards to individuals in the vocation of consecrated life in Tuscarawas County for their dedication to God and to schools and parishes.
Mrs. Love, a sixth grade teacher at Immaculate Conception, and Sister Esthar Mary Yesu Doss taught sixth grade students the importance of the many physical parts of a church.

Students then took children in the pre-kindergarten class to the sanctuary and taught them about its various parts. The school’s youngest students listened and answered questions, learning about the purpose and importance of each item.
The project’s success led the class to then teach kindergarten and first grade students.

The student body also united to pray the rosary as part of the CSW celebration. Prayer buddies, the school’s sixth grade and pre-k students, regularly pray the Divine Mercy chaplet together, and each class prays the rosary weekly.
The Home and School Association celebrated students with treats of ice cream and a special luncheon for teachers and staff. An all-school picture was taken at the church in the shape of a cross, demonstrating unity and the importance of the parish church and Catholic faith.

The picture was gifted to the school and Father Jeff Coning, parish pastor, for his support of Catholic education.
The Immaculate Conception community was proud to celebrate its school, parishes and the individuals who make learning and love for God possible.
