The Columbus Bishop Ready High School Lady Knights earned a hard-fought win over Grandview High School during the second annual Beat Cancer Game, an event rooted in faith, community and compassion.

Guided by a Catholic mission to serve others, the Knights and their families united to support the American Cancer Society, raising more than $650 through t-shirt sales, donations and a 50/50 raffle. The funds help support cancer research, patient care programs and advocacy efforts that bring hope and healing to affected individuals and families.

The evening opened with reflections from head coach Tay Tuffs and junior captain Jenna Wolf, who addressed the crowd about the meaning of the night.

They offered personal testimonies, sharing how cancer has impacted families and friends. They invited the crowd to pause, reflect and stand in solidarity with all people who carry the burden.

Their words reminded the Bishop Ready community of its call to accompany others in times of suffering and to be witnesses of Christ’s love through action.

The American Cancer Society continues to play a role in advancing cancer research and providing support services for patients and caregivers.

Through efforts like the Beat Cancer Game, the Lady Knights lived out the Gospel call to serve the sick and vulnerable, transforming competition into an act of service. The team embodied what it means to be a Catholic school community—competing with integrity, serving with compassion and standing together in faith.

The Beat Cancer Game was a reminder that, at Bishop Ready, athletics are not simply about winning games but forming hearts committed to faith, service and love.
