Funeral Mass for Sister Mary Elizabeth Doskey, OP (Order of Preachers), 96, who died Wednesday, July 22 at the Mohun Health Care Center, was celebrated Saturday, July 25 at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Burial will be in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1930 in New Orleans to Camille and Elsie (Zollinger) Doskey.

She earned a bachelor of science degree from St. Mary’s Dominican College of New Orleans; a master of science from the University of Wisconsin; a doctorate from the University of Notre Dame and did postgraduate studies at Loyola University of New Orleans.

She entered the congregation of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary (New Orleans) (now the Dominican Sisters of Peace) in 1946 and pronounced her vows on Jan. 6, 1948, taking the name Sister Mary Albertus.

She taught science and did research at Catholic schools and colleges in and near New Orleans. She had been a resident of the Mohun center since 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elsie D. McCarthy; and brothers Msgr. Clinton Doskey, James and David. She is survived by a brother, Richard.
