Columbus St. Francis DeSales High School graduate Jeffre Peraza was one of 750 recipients chosen from 61,000 applicants for the Gates Scholarship. The scholarship provides funding for remaining college expenses and leadership development and networking opportunities. Peraza was awarded the scholarship for his outstanding academic record, demonstrated leadership ability and exceptional personal success skills.

AJ D’Costa, also a DeSales graduate, received the Rotary Club of Westerville’s Service Above Self Scholarship. The $10,000 award will be applied toward his tuition at Ohio State University, where he plans to attend in the fall. The selection committee was impressed with D’Costa’s long-time commitment to serving his community through the Parents of Murdered Children organization, scouting and serving as a leader in his school.
