Legatus, a Catholic business organization with a chapter in the Columbus diocese, is growing.
New members Tim and Susan Conlan and Brian and Katie Whitlatch were invested in the organization during a monthly meeting in June.
Legatus welcomes Catholic men and woman of diverse talents. It is open to lay executives and their spouses. Members aspire to be faithful ambassadors for Christ, and in turn, positively impact their business and personal lives.
Catholic business leaders and executives who opt to be part of the organization deepen their relationship with God. They discover how the Church’s sacred tradition and values can help in light of spiritual, professional and personal challenges faced on a daily basis.

The organization includes CEOs, presidents, managing partners and business founders.
“We were immensely grateful to be asked to join Legatus,” said Brian Whitlatch, who serves in a business leadership capacity.
“I’ve had many great colleagues and leaders in my 26-year career impart wisdom and sage advice on how to run a business and inspire an organization,” he said, “but Legatus offers an additional lens from a Catholic perspective, which has already proved invaluable.”
Other recently-received members in Legatus’ Columbus chapter include Mark and Leslie Wolf, who were invested in the organization in April, and Mike and Faith D’Andrea, who rejoined Legatus after a few-years hiatus.
The organization is growing across North America. More than 5,500 members and 95 chapters are active in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Columbus chapter, which was charted in 2007, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in January.
“We look forward to a great year ahead with updated venues and wonderful speakers each month,” said chapter administrator Myra Hughes.
The local organization hosts monthly events. It also offers forums, which are informal groups that meet outside of the formal Columbus Legatus chapter.
“Christ has offered so much guidance to us in our marriage and raising a family that it seems obvious now that he has helped guide my professional life as well,” Whitlatch voiced. “I look forward to learning and engaging with the Legatus community and am already inspired by the witness of my fellow members.”

The organization’s namesake means “to send with a commission” or “appoint as one’s representative.” It was founded in 1987 by Domino’s Pizza and Ave Maria University founder Tom Monaghan.
