Bailey Burniston and Molly Melish were recipients of this year’s Our Lady of Lourdes Scholarship awarded by Marysville Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Burniston, who was homeschooled, plans to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall and study creative writing.

She has been involved in Our Lady of Lourdes parish, including as an altar server, cantor, parish youth choir member, extraordinary minister and with Vacation Bible School.

She also volunteers with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, was a member of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s ZooAide program, and helped lead a writing critique group during high school.

She is interested in becoming involved at the St. Thomas More Newman Center in Bowling Green and is discerning consecrated religious life.

Molly Melish, Our Lady of Lourdes Scholarship recipient

Melish, who graduated from Marysville High School, plans to attend Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and study elementary education and dance.

Her school activities included Student Council, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Leo Club and show choir. She is active in competition dance and serves as a teaching assistant.

Melish, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, is an altar server at the church and belongs to the parish’s Circle of Mary, having served as president, vice president and sentinel.

The scholarship recipients each receive $1,500, which is paid directly to the institution where they enroll, to use toward tuition, fees and classroom supply expenses.
