Funeral Mass for Sister Mary Ignatius Rozario, OP (Order of Preachers), 96, who died Sunday, May 17 at the Mohun Health Care Center, was celebrated Wednesday, May 27 at the Motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Peace followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.

She was born Helena Theresa Rozario on April 29, 1930 in Hong Kong to Daniel and Hemerita (Antonio) Rozario and entered the Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Mary’s, New Orleans, now the Dominican Sisters of Peace, on Sept. 8, 1961. She attended the Maryknoll Convent School and Business School in Hong Kong, graduating from the latter in 1958.

She served as a religious educator, pastoral minister, minister to the elderly and homebound, census minister and activity coordinator in Arizona, California, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

She arrived in Columbus in 2009, when she began a ministry of prayer and service at the Motherhouse until becoming a resident of the Mohun center in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Filomeno and Francis; and sister, Mariette Rozario. She is survived by a sister, Teresa Gutierrez.
