Columbus St. Charles Preparatory School presented diplomas to 114 members of the Class of 2023 during its commencement ceremony, preceded by a baccalaureate Mass, on Friday, May 26 in the Robert C. Walter Student Commons.

All the graduates will be attending institutions of higher education, with 99 percent going to four-year colleges and 1 percent to two-year colleges. One will be pursuing studies for the priesthood. They will be attending 54 colleges throughout the nation. The class earned $33.1 million in scholarship money.

Five were National Merit Scholarship finalists and six were National Merit commended students. Class members performed 7,000 service hours.

Seth Pettis received appointments to both the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and will attend the Coast Guard Academy. Corbin Robinson was accepted to both Harvard University and Yale University. He has chosen to attend Harvard, which had a 3 percent admission rate this year. 

Sam Martin was awarded the Chick Evans Scholarship for caddies to Ohio State University. Thomas Matthews earned a National Merit Scholarship to the University of Alabama. 

Connor Nicholas received one of 18 Gabelli presidential scholarships offered to incoming first-year students at Boston College. Derek Lyons and Nahom Tewolde earned Darwin T. Turner scholarships from the University of Cincinnati. 

Evan Rayburn and Aidan Silva won Morrill Scholarships to Ohio State University. Frederick Shimp earned a Founders’ Scholarship from Walsh University.
