Columbus St. Charles Preparatory School presented diplomas to 132 members of the Class of 2022 during its commencement ceremony, preceded by a baccalaureate Mass, on Friday, May 27, in the Robert C. Walter Student Commons.

Ninety-six percent of the graduates will attend four-year colleges, 2 percent will attend two-year colleges, 1 percent will enter the U.S. Marine Corps and 1 percent are undecided. They earned $32.5 million in scholarship funds and will attend one of 62 institutions of higher education, with 42 percent attending colleges outside of Ohio. Both the latter figures are records for the school.

Members of the class contributed 7,500 service hours.

Eight seniors were National Merit Scholarship finalists, one was a National Merit semifinalist and 13 were National Merit Commended Scholars. Two students were National Hispanic Scholars, and one is an African American Scholar. This means that 19 percent of the graduating class were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

One student will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; three students were admitted to ROTC; one student will join the Air National Guard; and one will enlist directly in the military.

Two members of the class will be swimming, one playing lacrosse and one playing golf at the NCAA Division I level, with nine being involved in athletics at the Division II and III levels. One student will attend the seminary.
