The 163 graduates of Columbus Bishop Hartley High School’s 66th graduating class received diplomas on Saturday, May 23 at Ohio Dominican University. A baccalaureate Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 22 at Columbus St. Catharine of Siena Church.
Members of the class of 2026 will attend one of 44 institutions of higher learning. The graduates received $28.4 million in scholarships. Of the 163 graduates, 93 percent are pursuing higher education; three percent will enter trade programs, and more than two percent will begin full-time employment. Three students will enter military service.
The graduates performed 6,426 service hours during the past academic year and 25,368 hours over four years.
Receiving full-tuition scholarships were Sean Byrne, Dawit Tesfaye and Chase Turner, Ohio State University, and Dominic Woods, Walsh University.
National Merit Commended students include Aidan Leist, Kathleen Motter and Ella Schindler. Kathleen Motter was selected for the All-Diocesan Academic Honor Team. Bishop Herrmann Service Award recipients were Addison DeWitt; Jacob Beatty, who was appointed to the U.S. Air Force; and Ryan Bassetti, who will begin formation as a seminarian for the Diocese of Columbus.
Summa cum laude graduates, who had a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.9 to 4.0, were Claire Bahlmann, Simren Bath, Jacob Beatty, Sean Byrne, Evelyn Campbell, Lauren Day, Addison DeWitt, Mary Ebenhack, Grace Eiselstein, Messeret Granneman, Aidan Henney, Camille Hoffman, Aidan Leist, Mary LeMay, Collin Materu, Keegan McKnight, Mera Mengesha, Kathleen Motter, John Murnane, Ava Navarro, Adam Rodenkirchen, Ella Schindler, Saberthinie Similien, Benjamin Stephenson, Dawit Tesfaye, Bryanna Treadway, Jacob Vonderwell and Dominic Woods.
Earning magna cum laude honors (3.8 to 3.899 GPA) were Mateo Bonomi, Natalie Ference, Matthew Galich, Audrey Grossman, Nora Johnson, Hannah King, Keyshawn Lunsford, Carson Moore, Layla Murphy, Karah O’Malley, Caleb O’Neil, Isabel Pardo, Raegan Rickman, Rowan Smith, Barnabas Solomon, Jasmine Ward and Macaela Young.
