Seven students and a graduate of Lancaster St. Mary School attended Regional Science Day at Columbus State Community College earlier this year.

Logan Hillyard received a superior rating and will move on to the state competition with a score of 37 out of 40. He also received several awards including the PPG of Circleville Award that came with a $100 cash prize and a first place Soil and Water Conservation Award, which came with a $100 cash prize.

He also received a second place South Central Power Award in chemistry with a cash prize of $25. Logan was enthralled with the opportunity to go to the State Science Day.

Dominic Messerly received a score of 37 and several awards, including second place and $100 from the Franklin County Society of Engineers and first place and $50 from South Central Power in the category of Infotech. Dominic is looking forward to going to the state competition and was excited about the opportunity.

William Shuman will also move on to the state competition with a score of 39. He received the South Central Power Award (first place in chemistry) with a $50 cash prize and the Soil and Water Conservation Award (third place) and $50. He’s looking forward to the state competition and meeting people from different areas of Ohio.

Scarlett Sims was awarded second place by South Central Power in chemistry and $25. Her score at Regionals was 37, which is a superior rating and qualifies her to move to the state competition. She was grateful for the opportunity to explore her interest in science.

Juliana Weber received a score of 36 and the South Central Power Award (second place in microbiology) and $25. She is looking forward to the state competition, and she appreciated the opportunity to improve her project for the next level of judging.

SENIORS | Three Ready seniors to attend trade school

Ella Hafford received an excellent rating of 34. She said it was an amazing experience and it helped with public speaking skills.

Riley Abbott Jackson received a perfect score.

Maggie Stewart from Lancaster Fisher Catholic High School received a 36.5 on her project and second place from South Central Power in Infotech and $25. Her enjoyment of the science fair led her to continue submitting work independently after St. Mary School.
